michael jackson and a good swim

Jejji got me Michael Jackson's dance game for Wii and we had a FANTASTIC workout dancing to Thriller and other hits! Also made it out for a great swim tonight!

Good weekend...fading out during the week

Sunday I swam for 60 minutes and felt like a million bucks.
I couldn't run because of ice storm.
I did run yesterday and today --- still a mile.
Gained two pounds! haha!
Struggling with sugar. Gotta cut OUT the sugar.
I indulged last week and bought ice cream and popovers....and now I'm paying for it.

Last popover tonight and then it will all be out of the house.

John is being very supportive...only bringing home fruit.
I've got noone to blame but myself.  That's the way I like it.

Sorry for not updating, work has taken an unexpected turn for the worse but that ain't stoppin me!!!  Johnny and I are working out 5 day a week, weights and abs.  I finally was able to run again after my first workout 2 weeks ago, legs, you can fill in the blanks.  Managed 1.5 miles yesterday, going for 2 today!  FYI - Johnny's silly diet is borig but no where near as bd as I thought...I have lost 11 lb. since Jan 3rd, only 45 more to gooooooooooo........

Juliann....if I can give up BEER, you should be able to control your diet!  Come on, just do it!!!

What's stopping you?

Sounds like everyone is working hard! I lost 1.5 lbs. but that was after gaining waaaaay more than should be acceptable over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Jennifer refers to this as my "happily married" weight.

This week, I really pushed myself at the pool and gym, then had a PTA vs. Staff basketball game. Please remember the population I am teaching... the parents mostly consisted of black men in their late 20's/early 30's and I was intimidated for sure. Amazingly the staff won and I even made a basket!! It was fun to hear the stands chanting "Smooooooooooot"

Today I woke up slow with a migraine, but it's gone now so Seba and I made Brussel Sprouts, fish fillets, and a Caesar salad. We are off for a swim shortly!!

Soooo my question for all of you is what's stopping you from moving or making the progress you want to see? What is your current obstacle?

I'll start.

I'm not encountering obstacles to move, but my diet is sucky. My obstacle is that I love chocolate WAY too much.

Hello all!

We might not be blogging very much but it sounds like we are all keeping to our exercise plans!   So proud of us all.  Still going to the gym 5 days - 1/2 hr on the treadmill, weights & ab work...still on Johnny's silly diet.  I haven't lost any weight, but he insists that I am re-setting my metabolisim and it is OK not to loose, it is horribly boring, so we shall see, yes?  

I am having cooking withdrawals...I haven't made any Mexican food since we were up there at New Years...my kingdom for a tamale...

Have a great weekend and stay off the couch.

running and swimming

I am running a mile every morning with the dogs. I mean jogging....not running. Today I added a mailbox.
I went swimming Wednesday (15 minutes) and yesterday(20 minutes). Today I'm going for 25 minutes.
Feeling really good about all this exercise I'm doing!

And, it makes me have more energy! Go figure! I even did dishes and vacuumed Wednesday - chores I generally only do on weekends.

This blog inspires me. Keep on writing!

Yikes!

Had a bad day on Saturday...I think I really "over-trained" this week...we went to the gym then Sam's, grocery store and a few othere errands, put everything away and FELL ASLEEP in the middle of the day...i havent' done that in years...got up long enough to eat dinner and fell back asleep till morning!! Took Sunday and Monday off then tonight I did the 1/2 cardio circuit on the treadmill, legs & abs...much better.

step it up!!

Sebastian and I almost doubled our usual swimming set. It felt great! We went in with a planned swimming set and although Sebastian was expecting it to be awful, it really wasn't bad at all.

Looks like we've set a new standard for ourselves!!

Mikey MOVES in SD

so mikey touched down in "America's Finest City" last night. Today he had his first full day in San Diego. We started the day off with what I described as a nice walk to the zoo. About half way into the walk he felt "bamboozled"....it was more like a HIKE with two real serious hills back to back. After an hour hanging with the orangutans/resting i think he felt better about the whole thing. we walked around the zoo for 3 more hours and did the mile hike back home. my legs are killing me from my first visit to the gym a day earlier....but after a popsicle and a nap we were ready to hit the streets again. i think mike is now motivated to start MOVING and even blogging with the rest of us.

OH and Tuesday mike walked over 10 miles around NYC. amazing. you'll have to hear all about his route and how it came about. a true urban explorer.

Gym dating

Kimmy might have her young Mexican trainer dude...sorry your arms are on strike!  But I have her big brother training me EVERY night...my hole body is on strike!!!

Not really, being back in the gym with Johnny is great.  A little sore here, a little sore there NEVER killed anyone, right?  Tonight makes 4 straight evenings we have worked out, I did over do it Tuesday with calf raises...taking the rest of the week of running as my right foot was NUMB after my Wednesday morning jog...thats not good right???

Loveyall---keep movin or we will have to change the name of our blog!!!

What have I done, now?

Joined the gym on Monday night...got my "free" training session tonight.  Lets just say that the 25 year old gorgeous Mexican trainer dude, was quite successful in training me.  I might not be able to get the shampoo onto my head tomorrow as my arms are no longer listening to my brain, they have gone on strike.  Ooohhh tomorrow is going to be hard.  love you all - going to bed.

basketball

today i practiced basketball for our PTA vs STAFF basketball game next week. I scored more points than in my entire 8th grade season.

i hope i don't accidentally curse during the game against the parentals.

New 2.75 circuit &gym 1st date

HELLO everyone....sorry I haven't posted in a few days, I know y'all look forward to my updates---SIKE!

So Sunday I decided to add .75 miles to my daily run, hitting my 2.75 mark in 30:57.  Then I took my last hours of normal life to the extreme...bought a pack of smokes and drank like a fish for the rest of my Sunday!!!

Started the "show diet" as Kimmy calls it Monday, couldn't run as it was raining but did manage to eat ALL the crazy food Johnny has prescribed.  TUUUUUUESDAAAAAAYYYYY...did 2.75 in 33:40, then jogged the mile to the gym and worked out with JK (Johnny)...shoulders/LEGS/tris and then abs!  I wimped out and caught a ride home with Kimmy...choked down the 2400 calories of my diet and hoping Johnny knows what he is doing!!!

Yippee!!!  I hit a link and I can suddenly post...life is good, yeah? 

Hi everyone!  I miss you all and think about our wonderful New Years weekend all the time.  Silvi, the hike was a high point and must have flipped the exercise switch for me.  Started the "show diet" with timmy...see his previous post.  Day 2 has been much better than day 1...Carb headache finally went away this afternoon. 

Excercise for this week is 20 minutes of pilates before work arms & abs one day legs & total body the next PLUS 1/2 hour on the treadmill after work.

slow start

Tim has started his diet....smoothy in the AM salad for lunch...soup for dinner! had to walk a few jobs this is the best right now for his MOVE part of his diet
Now for ME, i have got 10,000 steps in yesterday and need to start to move today...its slow going thou! eggs for breakfast, smoothy for lunch, salad for dinner sould do it for today.

has everyone heard of PSYLLIUM? Dr. Oz said gread fiber and cleans you out! Need to drink lots of water with it, it acts like a spong in your body. I found the best price at Trader Joes.

So proud of you active folk!! That diet sounds scary Immy!

We just got back from another swim, the poor 9 yr old next to me had her mom hounding down on her with stop watch in hand so I felt like I should get my butt in gear too. Sebastian and I did 6 sprints in addition to our normal swim, I even got 4 lengths of butterfly in!!

post xmas and new years

hi yas,
Riley, Justin's sister, got us both year long passes to the San Diego Zoo. The Zoo is a little over a mile from my house. Justin and I have jogged there, walked around for a few hours (lots of HILLS), and jogged back twice now. Its such a great way to get some exercise in cause i love seeing the animals (mostly the orangutans!)and then i'm usually real hungry and ready to hurry home. Buuuut i think i've been slacking on my old physical therapy exercises cause now my upper thighs/hips are painful after runs and kind of all the time. i feel old.

i've had a pretty bad cold for a few weeks now, but i think its finally getting better. after my lasik eye surgery last night i'm feeling GREAT and ready to get strong and healthy again. time to start focusing on my core and leg strengthening exercises.

i love being able to SEE ALL THE TIME!

tick tock...

My time is slipping away...Johnny came over last night with our diets!  Kim, Teresa B, Jack, JT, Johnny and I are doing his old bodybuilding diets...Ummmmmmm  Monday is our start date, lookout Lou Ferrigno-LOL!

Update - I hit the road twice yesterday...21:41 & 21:05, kick it!!!  Ok, so maybe thats not kickin it for some of you but not bad for this old guy!

BOOM - then we went out for T's bday...had a yummy prime rib & bake potato with BUTTER & SOUR CREAM and a few Jameson's later, well I should have ran 4x...

Back on it today...seeya

Thursday

I feel a bit like I got hit by a truck.  My abs are so sore that i keep thinking i must have a tumor or maybe a hernia, i had a bicep muscle spasm so hard today that i spilled hot tea all over the desk and when the cat jumps on my lap, it hurts my legs so much that i yelp!!!  i am starting to think that the word Pilates is french for die.  I will NOT quit.  Today i did 25 minute walk & tomorrow will be another day of walk/run...perhaps on Saturday the Pilates/Death classes can start up again...

So yesterday I went to bed 302 calories below my daily allotment, that was good!  Today I ran my 2 mile circuit in 24:00, that was very good!!  Today's calory intake is looking about the same...why does it take getting fat as hell to motivate me???

COMING TO JESUS...

Ok, so today I had 2 all time firsts.  This morning my FAT @SS weighed in at 231 pounds people, I have never been this heavy in all my 44 years!!!  Then I ran (if you can call it that) my 2-miles in 26:30, my slowest time ever...I am sick!!!

So, I am back on myfitnesspal.com site tracking calories and exercise.  Today through breakfest, lunch and a snack I have had 618 calories.  We are having salad tonight but I will need to fend of those evil night munchie demons...
